Dungeon Explorer is set in a mysterious world where a group of heroes are stranded and must rescue the Goddess of Ambition from the mazes beneath the Darkling tower. According to legend, once she is freed, she will grant any wish and help the heroes return home.

Dungeon Explorer is an action role-playing game that allows up to four players to play with six different character classes: monk, knight, elf, mage, beast and ninja. The game features a central hub area where all six dungeons can be accessed, but leaving it will decrease the food counter, leading to life point depletion if not replenished at a save point.

The gameplay involves exploring mazes, collecting gold and items, and fighting enemies to level up the characters and defeat bosses. Characters can switch between each other in the tavern and upgrade their equipment at the weapons shop using collected gold. Each character has four save slots, allowing for multiple games to be played with different settings.
