EARTHWORM JIM SPECIAL EDITION is a platformer game for the Sega Mega CD. The story follows the adventures of Jim, an earthworm who was captured by an alien named Psy-Crow and taken to his home planet, where he undergoes a series of tests to determine whether or not he can be a suitable ambassador for Earth. However, things take a turn when Jim discovers that he has been brainwashed and must now stop the evil plans of Psy-Crow.

The gameplay in EARTHWORM JIM SPECIAL EDITION is fast-paced and action-packed, with Jim navigating through various levels set in space and on different planets. Players control Jim as he jumps, shoots, and uses his various gadgets to overcome obstacles and enemies.
