Mazin Saga: Mutant Fighter is set in 1999 where a powerful Bio-Beast named Godkaiser Hell has ruled over Earth after a devastating nuclear and biological disaster. The survivors have fled underground, and the Bio-Beast's army, the Steelmask Force, continues to attack them relentlessly.
The gameplay involves controlling the Mazinger-Z mech suit, using the D-pad and face buttons to slash at enemy monsters in a hack-n-slash style. A Super Attack can be used, but it will temporarily decrease health levels.
The game consists of five levels (Tokyo, Asia, Europe, New York, and Egypt), each divided into three stages with two bosses: a mini-boss and a main boss. Throughout the levels, items can be found to award extra points, health refills, additional lives, and temporary invincibility.
