Virtua Fighter 2 takes place one year after the first World Fighting Tournament, where Lau Chan won the title. This time, invitations are sent to the second edition of the tournament, and old rivalries are rekindled. The story follows various characters as they compete in the tournament, each with their own motivations and goals.
Gameplay is inspired by the original Virtua Fighter , but adapted for the Sega Genesis. With 8 playable characters and a range of special moves, players can engage in intense battles in one-on-one combat. The game features regular sprites and side-scrolling camera work due to technical constraints, but still manages to capture the spirit of the original 3D fighting experience.
