Story
Introduction: The Fall of Azeroth
The fall of Azeroth is seldom mentioned without the name of Aegwyn, the last of a powerful order dedicated to sheltering mortals from the Great Dark. She came to Azeroth seeking a mortal to sire an heir to her powers, eventually choosing the conjurer Nialas. They named their son Medivh, who inherited the knowledge and powers accumulated over a thousand years.
On the eve of his thirteenth birthday, Medivh's internal powers were revealed. The overwhelming cosmic energies caused massive psychic trauma, leaving him unconscious for nearly six years.
When he awoke, Aegwyn realized his birthright wisdom had become malevolent. Dark forces from the Twisting Nether had marked his soul, leading him into evil madness and forbidden necromancy. He sought spiritual contact with Gul'dan, a warlock from a dark red world haunting his visions.
Medivh formed an unholy pact with Gul'dan and the Orcs. The Orcs vowed to destroy Azeroth in exchange for its spoils, while Gul'dan was promised the power of an ancient wizard imprisoned in the sea. Unnatural portals opened, allowing Orc armies to tear Azeroth asunder for nearly five years. The rich lands were razed, and Medivh was slain in the battles that followed, though the portal remained open.
The History of Orcish Ascension
The Orcish Horde acts as an elemental force of destruction, sparing no life or building. The savage tendencies of the masses are manipulated by those who hold true power, driving the great destructive machine of the Horde.
When they conquered their native world, there was nothing left for the beast of war to feed on. Tensions and violence rose among the clans, with minor disputes disintegrating into open battle and massive bloodshed.
New territories were necessary to prevent the clans from destroying themselves. At this point, Gul'dan contacted a dark force calling itself Medivh. Medivh promised the spoils of a kingdom for the Horde and incomprehensible powers for Gul'dan.
An agreement was reached, and a portal was conjured between the worlds. However, the kingdom of Azeroth proved difficult to defeat, and old tensions between the Orcish clans began to rise once more.
The Aftermath of the Second War
For long months, the Alliance sought renegade Orcs that went into hiding after the fall of the Dark Portal. Most clans were captured and herded into guarded reserves and prison camps. Alliance leaders argued over whether to exterminate or imprison the Orcs, during which time the Alliance weakened.
The remaining Orcs planned to return to their home world. On the eve of summer in 606, they used unknown magic to reactivate the ancient portal.
Upon arrival, they were hailed as heroes for surviving thirty years in enemy lands. Their talents were divided among the clans to execute new plans. The Orcs decided to retrieve certain artifacts from Azeroth to open rifts into other worlds.
These rifts would take the Orcish Hordes to great victories beyond the Dark Portal.
