The game starts as a side-scrolling platformer, taking you through various environments such as swamps, forests, pyramids, and snowy mountaintops. As you defeat enemies and progress through the levels, you allow villagers to return and build their towns, giving you a sense of accomplishment and progression.

Once the land is freed from evil, you switch to controlling an angel who guides the villagers in building their towns. With your angel's help, you can send down miracles to aid the villagers, making them happy and prosperous. The gameplay shifts from action-packed platforming to more strategic city-building, as you work together with the angel to create a thriving community.
