Scribblenauts Unlimited tells the story of Maxwell, who has to save his sister from a spell after playing a prank on an old wizard. To achieve this, he must travel across the world and help people to obtain Starites and Starite pieces.

The gameplay in Scribblenauts Unlimited is different from its predecessors. The game uses a level-based structure where multiple people with quests appear in the same zone. Players must solve puzzles by using the in-game notebook, which spawns any item or person written into it. Adjectives can still be applied to objects and animals, but a new feature are the riddles contained in the menu.

Scribblenauts Unlimited also introduces an object editor, allowing players to create their own items and share them online.

Scribblenauts Unlimited is available on the Wii U console.
