Lego Rock Band is a unique blend of Rock Band and the LEGO series . Players get to start a band and hire band members, creating characters by mixing and matching bodies, torsos, legs, and heads. Just like with real Lego, players can customize their band members in any way they want.
The main game takes players on a world tour, visiting various locations, similar to Rock Band . However, Lego Rock Band adds special levels where players must perform outrageous tasks, such as fighting an octopus or demolishing a building. As players progress through the song lists, they earn "Studs", the game's currency, which can be used to purchase Lego items for their Rock Den, hire new staff, buy clothes or instruments, and more.
