Konami Arcade Classics brings together ten of their most iconic titles from the 1980s, each with its own unique story and challenge. In Pooyan , you must defend your fellow pigs from wolves who are trying to escape by lowering them in an elevator. Meanwhile, in Circus Charlie , you'll need to use your timing and reflexes to navigate through increasingly difficult levels, including jumping over flaming urns and avoiding springboards.
The gameplay in these classic arcade games is varied but exciting. In Shao-Lin's Road , you'll need to leap from level to level, kicking henchmen and their bosses, while collecting power-ups like the rotating energy ball. On the other hand, Roc 'N Rope requires you to use a rope and flashlight to climb up a cave and avoid enemies or blind them with your light.
In Yie Ar Kung-Fu , you'll engage in one-on-one fights against armed opponents using only punches and kicks. With each angle combined with either punch or kick, you can create different attacks. The objective in Scramble is to fly your rocket through enemy territory without running out of fuel.
Road Fighter is a high-speed top-down racer where you need to pass other racers to increase your score, while crashing will result in fuel penalties. In Super Cobra , you'll pilot your helicopter through similar territory, taking out rockets and fuel tanks, but now with the added challenge of turrets and new enemies.
The 3D gameplay in Gyruss involves moving your ship around a 360-degree loop while avoiding swooping enemies and their shots. With double shots, you'll have an increased chance of survival. In Time Pilot , you'll pilot your craft through borderless levels spread across time, catching parachuters for bonus points.
The games in this compilation have been adapted to fit the horizontal display common on PlayStation consoles, with some adjustments made to accommodate the smaller playfield size. This includes moving scores, lives, and power meters to the right-hand side of the screen.
Added features include saving your high scores, adjusting difficulty and life counts, dualShock compatibility for using analog sticks or vibration feedback, as well as history pages with release dates, screenshots, and trivia. You'll also be presented with pre-game instructions and tips when loading a game.
