AFL Premiership 2005 is based on the popular Australian Rules Football game in southern Australia. The game follows the official rules and has full licensing from the AFL board. It is a unique combination of sports, originally created by an Australian Cricket Coach to keep his team fit during the off-season. The game is mainly played throughout the state of Victoria but has gained popularity in other states.
The game features all 16 teams, 692 AFL players with stats, and 8 stadiums. It also includes support for the Cameo Eyetoy feature, allowing players to use their head in the game on top of a player. The game offers full multiplayer gameplay, supported by Gamespy for online play or using the Multi-tap for up to 4-player gaming. The PS2 version comes with a bonus "100 Years of Australian Football" DVD.
The later released Xbox and PC versions do not include the DVD, but they have implemented changes from the AFL draft due to their later release. However, the overall team score has not been updated in these versions.
