Ghost Rider is an action game set after the events of the movie of the same name, which is based on the Marvel Comics character. You play as Johnny Blaze, who sold his soul to a demon named Mephisto for noble reasons. Now, some rogue demons have escaped from hell and Mephisto needs your help to destroy them before they cause him trouble. If you don't, he'll take your girlfriend back to hell with him.

The gameplay is similar to God of War , where you attack with flaming hellfire chains and fill a vengeance bar by using moves and avoiding being hit. As the meter fills, you get more souls from enemies you kill, which can be used to purchase new moves and extras like additional characters. There are also shielded enemies that require a minimum amount of vengeance bar to damage, and a spirit gauge that allows for special moves.

The game features Hellcycle levels where you must avoid obstacles while destroying enemies with the bike's hellshot attacks and your chains.
