Samurai Shodown on PlayStation 4 brings back the classic action & adventure gameplay of the series, with players taking on one of fifteen warriors in a quest to defeat Rashojin Mizuki , a servant of the dark god Ambrosia . The game's story is driven by the desire for revenge and justice, as each character seeks to avenge past wrongs.

The gameplay in Samurai Shodown is fast-paced and challenging, with special moves accessible through charging up a power meter. Characters can now roll forward and backward, perform small jumps to evade attacks, and duck to avoid high ones. The game also introduces new gameplay mechanics, such as parrying moves that leave opponents vulnerable if executed at the right time.
