The use of the PS5's DualSense controller with its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback allows players to feel the energy and fatigue of their characters during matches.

The game features new modes and maps, including the City map with basketball activities and multiple districts and factions. Players can also take control of a female basketball player in the WNBA MyPLAYER experience, featuring all 12 teams, which can be played online through the 3v3 MyPLAYER competition. The MyCAREER mode allows players to progress from high school to college or head straight to the NBA G League, while the revamped MyNBA and MyWNBA modes offer a new franchise experience.
