Baldren, a character who can be renamed by the player, finds himself stranded on Rainbow Moon , opening a portal to various monsters that infest this once peaceful land. The residents of Rainbow Moon do not discriminate him or the monsters, so he needs to earn their trust and prove he's not just another badguy invading their territory. He can do this by helping them with various tasks and quests while searching for a way to seal the portal and return home.
Rainbow Moon uses isometric graphics during both exploration and combat. Exploration is done in real-time, but battles become turn-based when interacting with NPCs or starting combat encounters. You can perform typical actions found in RPGs, such as attacking, defending, moving, using items or magic, or trying to flee, which may cost experience points. As you solve quests and defeat monsters, your character levels up and earns experience. Monsters often leave behind items and gold that can be traded in town for weapons and other goods. A map of the area can be checked while exploring, and an auto-mapping feature displays all uncovered objects and areas.
