Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is a unique game in the series, deviating from its other versions. This one takes a different approach, adopting a fighting game style similar to its predecessor on the same platform instead of the traditional 2D brawler.

The gameplay revolves around three distinct modes: Story . In this mode, players choose from six Power Rangers to battle against Ivan Ooze's minions in an effort to set up a showdown with Ooze himself. The Versus mode allows players to select from the Power Rangers or their enemies and engage in battles against randomly chosen opponents. The Link mode lets players compete against one another using the Gear-to-Gear link cable.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was released for the Sega Game Gear on January 1, 1993.
