The handheld version of NFL Quarterback Club 96 has some key differences from its console counterparts. The story follows players as they navigate through a full NFL season, competing against other teams in various matches.
The gameplay is also simplified compared to the console versions. While there's still a full season mode with an NFL license, some features have been toned down. There are only seven players on each team on the field, and Practice mode is missing. Additionally, player numbers replace names, and the QB challenge is absent.
One notable feature of this version is the password system, allowing players to pick up where they left off whenever they want.
