NFL Quarterback Club 96 is a football game that takes you back to the world of American football. The game features every team from the 1996 NFL season, with real player numbers and stats. You'll have access to 32 offensive plays and 16 defensive plays as you play through the game. Options include setting quarter lengths, from one to 15 minutes, and selecting your mode of play: Preseason, Playoffs, or a full Season, in which you play 18 games towards the goal of the Super Bowl.

How to Play
Starting Up
1. Set up your Sega Saturn™ system as described in its instruction manual. Plug in Control Pad 1 for a one-player game and Control Pad 2 for a two-player game. If you wish to play a multi-player game, plug in a Saturn™ Team Player™ adapter (sold separately) as described in its instruction manual.
2. Place the NFL™ Quarterback Club™ '96 disc, label side up, in the well of the CD tray and close the lid.
3. Turn on the TV or monitor and the Sega Saturn™. The Sega Saturn™ logo appears on screen. If nothing happens, turn the system off and make sure it is set up correctly before turning it on again.
4. To stop the game in progress or after the game ends, press the Reset Button on the Sega Saturn console to display the on-screen Control Panel.

NFL™ Quarterback Club™ '96 is for up to 12 players.

The disc contains a security code. Keep the disc clean and handle it carefully. If the system has trouble reading the disc, wipe it carefully from the center straight out toward the edge.
Getting Started
After the opening intro, the Title screen appears. You can press START at any time during the intro to bring up the Title screen. When the Title screen appears, you will be able to choose your game mode and set Pre-Game Options. Press the START BUTTON to see the game mode screen.
On Screen Help
Most screens include an On Screen Help feature to guide you through the game.

Press UP or DOWN on the D-PAD to highlight a desired option.
•
Press LEFT or RIGHT on the D-PAD to select the desired setting.
•
Press the C BUTTON to return to a previous screen.
•
Press the START BUTTON to advance to the next appropriate screen or bring you directly into play.
•
Press the B BUTTON to select an option.
Game Modes
NFL™ Quarterback Club™ '96 offers two concussive ways to play: NFL™ Play and Simulation. Refer to the relevant pages for detailed information on each mode. Press UP or DOWN on the D-PAD to highlight a game mode, then press the START or B BUTTON to set mode options.
Calling Plays
NFL™ Quarterback Club™ '96 features over 800 plays, including a unique running and passing play for each team! To call a play:
1. Select your team's formation by pressing LEFT or RIGHT on the D-PAD, then the A, B, or C BUTTON when the desired formation is in the appropriate box.
2. Select your yardage situation (Short, Medium, Long, or Bomb Zone) in the same manner. Note that kickoff situations do not have yardage settings.
3. Press LEFT or RIGHT on the D-PAD to scroll through the plays available for your formation and yardage settings.
4. Press the button (A, B, or C) associated with the desired play.
In a 1-player game, the computer controls your opposing team's play calling. Once you've selected your play, you can choose to Flip the Play, Start Play, No Huddle, or Flip Play/No Huddle. Choosing No Huddle will take you right back to the line of scrimmage following the play. Play begins when the quarterback (Player 1) snaps the ball.
NFL™ Play
NFL™ Play gives you six exciting game mode options to choose from. Try them all!
PRESEASON
Use this mode to compete in preseason exhibition games. Once you've selected Preseason Mode, choose your team. If you wish to import a different quarterback, press the B BUTTON to bring up the Quarterback Select screen, then follow the Game Time instructions.
NEW SEASON
Use this mode to begin a fresh season and guide your team to gridiron glory in the Super Bowl. In season mode, only your team can be selected; the computer controls your opponents. Press LEFT or RIGHT on the D-PAD to change the year (and thus, the schedule) to play in a future season, right up to the year 9999.

Saving a Season Schedule: When you've viewed your schedule, press the B BUTTON to see the save screen. If using a Sega Memory Cartridge, the Saturn will sense it and allow you to save to either the cartridge or internal memory. If not using a cartridge, the schedule saves to internal memory. Highlight a slot to save; if all slots are full, you must erase an existing season. Use the Resume Season feature to get back into the season later.

Season Standings: After each season game, a screen appears showing league standings. Press LEFT or RIGHT on the D-PAD to switch between AFC and NFC standings. Press the B BUTTON to see your season schedule featuring your next opponent.
Once you've set your season schedule, press the START BUTTON, set your player controller selection and game play choices, then begin the schedule.
RESUME SEASON
Use this mode to pick up seasonal play where you left off last time. You will go to the Restore screen to choose which of up to five stored seasons to resume. Once chosen, you can view Season Standings (with divisional win/loss records) and the saved Season Schedule.
ENTER PLAYOFFS
Use this mode to set up a Playoff bracket on the way to the Super Bowl. Skip right to the Playoffs to try to earn the championship. Select only the team you will be controlling. Press the B BUTTON to see the Playoff tree. Once satisfied, save your Playoff tree,

Tips & Maps
Passing - Long yardage
Long yardage passing plays are not desperation plays, but soundly structured play patterns that often result in dramatic gains.
Running - Long yardage
The Draw and the Delay are favorites for the long running game, as fooling the defense into expecting a pass becomes essential to the success of a long run play.
Passing - Defense
Defending the secondary is important for preventing long pass plays; getting an accurate read before committing is key.
Running - Defense
The offense will fake the pass to gain big on the ground, so defenders must be vigilant at the line.
Bomb Zone
Bomb Zone situations include anything over 50 yards.
Passing - Medium/Medium-Long
These are the routes that QBs would love to complete, but they tend to be the toughest when all factors are considered.
Rushing - Medium/Medium-Long
When the defense is expecting the long ball, a wise offense can fool them into leaving running room open.
Passing - Medium/Short
These plays help the defense stop the deadly deep ball threat.
Rushing - Medium/Short
These plays are designed to keep the threat of draw and delay plays to a minimum.
PRO SET
A popular offensive lineup where a fullback and a halfback line up beside each other behind the quarterback.
FAR/NEAR
A variation of the Pro Set with two alignments: Far side aligns backs on the weak side for misdirection, Near side aligns them on the strong side for power running.
I FORMATION
Two backs line up directly behind the quarterback, popular for running sweeps and dives.
SHOTGUN
A passing formation where the quarterback is set back about five yards, providing scrambling room and time to find open receivers.
SINGLE BACK
Uses a single back to allow an additional receiver on the line, forcing the defense to spread out; useful for both runs and passes.
DOUBLE TIGHT END
A strong running formation placing the center of power on the scrimmage line, effective for a variety of play types.
6 - 2
Features six linemen and two linebackers; it is a potent defense against the run.
3 - 4
Features three down linemen and four linebackers; effective against short and medium passes, as well as the run.
4 - 3
Features two tackles and two ends as down linemen with three linebackers; appropriate against runs and short passes.
4 - 6
Often uses a monster back; a strong run defense that also helps in short zone pass coverage.
