Super Valis IV tells the story of a young girl named Lena who dreams of becoming a Valis warrior, just like the legendary Yuko. However, Yuko has become a goddess after her previous adventures and is now determined to pass on the sword of Valis to someone worthy. Meanwhile, a mad prince named Gallagher, once possessed by the magical ring that granted great powers, breaks out of his crystal prison with plans to conquer the Dream World.

The gameplay in Super Valis IV is different from its predecessors. Lena can only run faster, but not slide, making the game's movement mechanics more fluid. Additionally, magic bar and items that increase HP or MP have been removed from the game. However, Lena can equip special items to enhance her default Valis sword attack.

Super Valis IV was released on the Super Famicom in 1992-03-27. The game is part of the action & adventure genre and features significant changes from its previous releases, including fewer stages and cutscenes. Players control only Lena, with Amu and Asfal missing from the story and gameplay.
