Set in a chaotic universe where characters from various Nickelodeon cartoons are being flung into each other's worlds, Nicktoons Freeze Frame Frenzy is an action-packed picture-taking game. The evil antagonist has scrambled the different universes of Nicktoons, causing robotic copies to integrate into their societies as they try to return to their own dimensions.
As Jimmy Neutron instructs, players take on the role of one of the main characters from the represented franchises and head to the worlds of the Nicktoons. With a specially designed camera, players must move around a set walking area to avoid hazards, get better angles for their free-moving camera cursor, and take pictures of objects in the environment to reveal characters.
The game's objective is to return characters to their home dimensions by taking good shots of the robot doppelgangers. Each level has a score threshold that needs to be beaten by taking pictures of characters and interesting sights, with smaller side objectives providing point bonuses if completed. Boss fights cap off each world, where players must survive attacks and snap three good shots of the robot duplicates.
