The "magnet" aspect of Mingle Magnet allows the player to control the placement of the blocks. All blocks are attracted to a magnet that can be placed anywhere in the field, and will draw to it automatically. This means that by moving the magnet, the player can change the direction of the falling blocks and create new opportunities for chains.
The game is played vertically, with the blocks falling one square at a time. The player must use the magnet to guide the blocks into place, creating chains of matching symbols to score points. As the game progresses, it becomes increasingly difficult to control the blocks, as more pieces enter the field and the timer runs out.
