Tekken Card Challenge is a unique fighting game that replaces traditional button-mashing with a card-based system. In this game, players select a set of five cards from a roulette, which determine the outcome of battle. Higher-numbered cards deal more damage, while block and counter cards can be used to defend or gain an advantage.
The gameplay is fast-paced, with various attack types available, including combo cards that allow for multiple attacks in a row, juggling cards that enable classic fighting game mechanics, and charge cards that deal extra damage at the end of a turn. Each card has its own unique visuals and names, adding to the game's variety.
Tekken Card Challenge
features several game modes, including arcade battles against computer-controlled opponents, an adventure mode where players can find new cards and unlock new characters, and multiplayer matches for up to two players using the WonderSwan console. The story mode takes place on a 15x15 grid map, where players must navigate through shrines, villages, and mountains while avoiding enemies and overcoming obstacles.
The game is filled with villains, including mysterious stormtroopers called Crow, Owl, and Eagle, as well as Tekken characters who have long-standing grudges against the player's character. The ultimate goal is to defeat the evil Ogre in a high tower, but players must first gather power-ups and cards to aid them on their quest.
Tekken Card Challenge also features the option to connect two WonderSwan consoles using the Communication Cable, allowing friends or foes to engage in local multiplayer battles. With its unique card-based system and variety of gameplay modes, this game is sure to appeal to fans of fighting games looking for something new and exciting.
