In ESPN NBA 2K5 , you take control of your team in Franchise mode, managing key attributes such as weekly training and team chemistry. A new "Association" feature allows for more realistic management, while also giving you the ability to play games on a play-by-play basis.
The game's control system has been improved, with a new momentum system that takes into account your player's abilities. This means that certain players will be better suited to certain types of gameplay, such as scoring or defense.
Franchise mode also features a revamped "story" mode, which includes over 100 new items, a respect system, and the ability to play multiplayer games. Additionally, you'll find new timed mini-games and improved commentary from Michele Tafoya and Bill Walton.
