ESPN NFL 2K5 , a football game for Xbox, brings new features to the table for the new season.
The ESPN presentation has been greatly expanded, with Chris Berman returning as the virtual commentator who introduces each game, provides half-time reports, and hosts post-game shows. He uses replays from each game to illustrate points. Suzy Kobler also provides sideline reports. Every move you make during a game is recorded and used in these replays.
A new feature is the V.I.P. system, which tracks how you play the game. If you pass 80% of the time and run 20% of the time, your V.I.P. profile will reflect this. Later, you can play against your V.I.P., with the AI playing as if it were you.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, a special mode has been added: 25th Anniversary Mode. This allows you to play moments from classic football games, including The Heidi Bowl and The Immaculate Reception.
The Crib has an overhaul this year, with players earning points instead of items by completing tasks. You can use these points to buy items of your choice. New features include a dart board and phone, which you'll use to answer calls from celebrities like Steve-O or Funkmaster Flex, who challenge you to a game.
Franchise mode has also been updated. Now, you can schedule weekly preps for your team, choosing whether players work out, play practice games, watch tapes, or gear up for the next game.
ESPN NFL 2K5 supports online multiplayer through Xbox Live, with future plans for leagues and buddy lists. The game is always connected to the internet, keeping your roster up to date and allowing you to see friends and receive requests at any time.
