The game Fantastic 4 , released on the Xbox console, is a licensee of the 2005 movie. Unlike many licensed titles, this third-person action game takes its plot from the actual movie and changes it for better gameplay. The story is generally faithful to the comic book version, with various villains appearing throughout the levels.

The gameplay consists of walking the heroic title characters around a level, beating up enemies that cross their path. Mission objectives can be achieved in several ways, often through combat, and failing to complete them leads to defeat. Beating up enemies yields points, which can be used to upgrade characters with new special moves or unlock bonus materials.

A co-op mode allows for playing the normal single-player mission with a second player, adding a new layer of gameplay to the experience.
