Deadpool , released on the Xbox 360 in June 2013, follows the story of Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool. While on a contract to kill a corrupt media mogul, Mister Sinister intervenes and kills him instead, drawing Deadpool's ire. He vows revenge but stumbles upon a bigger plot that could spell the end of humanity. With the help of X-Men such as Wolverine, Rogue, and Domino, along with a buddy from the future, Cable, they team up to stop Mister Sinister and his group of Marauders.
True to his character, Deadpool frequently breaks the fourth wall in the game. He references the script, comments on achievements and trophies, jokes at the player's expense if he does poorly, and even makes fun of other franchises like Transformers and Spider-Man, as well as video games such as The Legend of Zelda.
The gameplay is a third-person slash fest mixed with gunplay, with Deadpool starting out with his signature katanas and dual pistols. As the game progresses, players can upgrade Deadpool and purchase new guns and melee weapons using DP (Deadpool Points) scattered throughout levels and dropped by enemies killed. Comboing attacks earns more DP, building momentum that activates special abilities such as wiping out large groups of enemies or picking up tacos dropped by enemies.
Deadpool's health regenerates like Wolverine's in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and he can also teleport to get behind enemies or counter incoming attacks. While there is no multiplayer option, a challenge mode allows players to compete against wave after wave of enemies in arenas unlocked during the campaign for a place on the leaderboard.
