Super Robot Taisen Original Generation 2 is a strategy RPG where players lead a small force of mechs in a fight to save humanity from an alien invasion. The designs of the mechs, pilots, and attacks are heavily influenced by anime.
The combat system is similar to its predecessor, with players controlling multiple mechs and issuing commands in a turn-based fashion. Each mech pilot has "spirit commands" that can be used to strengthen a mech's abilities, such as hit or dodge rate. The player must then choose from a list of attacks, followed by the AI's turn. If a player mech is attacked, the player has the option to counter-attack, evade, or defend.
Super Robot Taisen Original Generation 2 introduces several minor changes to the battle system, including a new attack type called "chain attacks", which allows a unit to strike multiple enemies in one blow. The AI's abilities have also been improved. Additionally, the graphics have been enhanced, with more fluid and interesting mech attacks.
The game's story takes place six months after the original Super Robot Taisen Original Generation left off. Humanity is still recovering from the battle with the Aerogaters, but a small faction of the Divine Crusaders is trying to further their goals. The SRX and ATX teams of the EFA must stop them and restore order, only to be interrupted by two new groups of mysterious enemies: the Einsts and the Inspectors.
Super Robot Taisen Original Generation 2 was released on Game Boy Advance in 2006. It is a strategy game that combines elements of anime and mechs, with improved graphics and AI capabilities.
