The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is the third season of Telltale's adaptation of the comic book series. It continues the previous games' concept as a narrative-driven title where most of the game is presented as a series of cinematic story scenes. Player interaction is limited to dialogue options during conversations, Quick Time Events in action scenes, and free movement and minor puzzle-solving elements in some environments that can be explored freely.
The game follows Javier Garcia and Clementine as they try to stay ahead of a large Walker herd. The player's choices in the previous games have shaped Clementine's character, and this season handles those choices by allowing players to import saves from the previous seasons or reshape her background story at the start of the game.
Most of the mechanics and game elements return. Visually, the title uses an identical style. This season includes a new feature called Crowd Play, where an online audience can vote or suggest choices to experience and steer the game as a group. The game entry covers the third season as a whole, either because it is the only option to purchase the game or because it is available as a compilation on Xbox One.
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier was released on February 23, 2017, for PC and later for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The first two episodes were released simultaneously, and subsequent episodes can be purchased separately or as part of a season pass.
