Silkworm is a classic horizontally-scrolling shoot-em-up where you'll be on land as well as in the air. The main difference between this game and many other side-scrolling shoot-em-ups is that you will be on land as well as in the air.
The story follows two players, one playing as a helicopter and the other as a jeep, who must protect each other while fighting against enemies. As they progress through the levels, a "goose" helicopter forms on the screen after a certain number of kills, providing an extra power-up. This mechanic continues throughout the game, with the possibility of a "goose" appearing even during battles against level bosses.
Gameplay involves controlling your player's vehicle to navigate through increasingly difficult levels, shooting enemies and avoiding obstacles while managing your health and resources. The addition of two-player co-op adds a new layer of strategy, as players must work together to take down enemies and protect each other.
Silkworm was released for the Amiga in 1990, a classic platform from that era.
