Chase , released in 1980 , is an action-adventure game for the Atari 2600. The story follows a thief who is trapped in a maze-like vault and must collect all of the gold dots to escape. However, their task is complicated by four police officers patrolling the vault, trying to catch them. To evade capture, the player can temporarily close doors, blocking the police for short periods. When all the gold has been collected, the exit opens, allowing the thief to progress to the next, more challenging vault.
The gameplay involves navigating the maze while avoiding the police and closing doors to create temporary barriers. The player must also keep an eye out for bonus items like cash bags, crowns, or briefcases, which can be collected to earn extra points. With its simple yet challenging design, Chase requires strategic thinking and quick reflexes to succeed.
