Gauntlet , released in 1983 , is an action & adventure game for the Atari 2600. You play as Sir Robert Wittenbottom, a likable old fellow who has discovered an ancient civilization on a mysterious island.
You must run through the gauntlet, using your water to put out the ceremonial fires along the way. However, it's not that easy - you'll need to jump over rocks and logs, duck under stones, arrows, and tomahawks, and avoid hitting trees or touching the sides of the gauntlet.
The game is over when you run out of your third glass of water, but you can earn points by easing the thirst of the old men you encounter. You'll receive 50 points for jumping over rocks or logs, 100 points for ducking under arrows, stones, or tomahawks, and 250 points for giving an old man a drink of water.
