Dream Mix TV World Fighters is a fighting game that brings together some of Japan's most iconic characters from various franchises, including Hudson, Konami, and Takara. The game takes place in a television program that's facing low ratings, and the people in charge decide to hold a tournament involving these superstars to save their jobs.

The tournament features a diverse range of characters, including Takahashi Meijin from Adventure Island, White Bomberman from the Bomberman series, Yugo from Bloody Roar, Momotaro and Bimbogami from Momotaro Densetsu, Sengoku Manjimaru from Tengai Makyo II: Manjimaru, Simon Belmont from Castlevania, Twinbee from Twinbee, Power Pro-kun from Jikkyo Powerful Pro Yakyo '94, Solid Snake from Metal Gear, Moai from Gradius, Convoy and Megatron from Transformers, Microman from Micronauts, Takao Kinomiya from BeyBlade, Licca-Chan from the dress-up doll franchise, and Aska from Cy Girls.

The gameplay is similar to other fighting games in the genre. Players can choose from two to four characters and compete against each other in the arena. The goal is to damage and destroy opponents by striking them with attacks and special abilities. A group energy bar displays all characters individually on the screen, giving players an idea of their strengths and weaknesses.
