International Superstar Soccer 2 is a next-generation update of Konami's International Superstar Soccer , featuring a similar array of modes (friendly, international cup, league, training) to the original. This installment also makes use of an official FIFPro license, meaning that many of the 58 national teams include real player names.
The story mode is relatively straightforward, with each team competing in their respective domestic league, while the international tournament features a variety of different countries competing for the coveted title. Players can control any of the over 580 teams and compete against rival nations in an effort to claim the championship.
Gameplay is fast-paced and intense, with players able to control up to six players on each team using a combination of button inputs and stick movements. The game features a range of modes, including exhibition matches, tournaments, and training sessions, allowing for a high level of depth and replayability.
The Gamecube version of International Superstar Soccer 2 was released in March 2002 and is available exclusively on the Nintendo Gamecube console. The game's mix of addictive gameplay and authentic team names and player likenesses make it a great addition to any soccer fan's collection.
