The New Zealand Story is an action-packed adventure game that follows the journey of Tiki, a kiwi tribe leader, as she attempts to rescue her fellow tribesmen from various cages across New Zealand. The evil Leopard Seal has kidnapped them and plans to sell them on the black market, but Tiki is determined to stop him.
Players control Tiki as she navigates through cities like Auckland, Rotorua, and Waitomo Caves, avoiding enemies and bosses along the way. Each city has its own unique challenges, from fighting off nasty creatures with bombs and arrows to collecting power-ups like laser shots and fireballs. With limited time to complete each rescue mission, Tiki must use her crossbow, water squirt, and other abilities to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies.
The game features various levels with different terrain, including areas that require Tiki to fly up by grabbing a special item from an enemy or navigate underwater, where she must manage her oxygen meter. With multiple power-ups available, such as extra lives and weapons, players can improve their chances of success and progress through the game.
