Laser Gates is a side-scrolling shooter where your goal is to destroy failsafe detonators inside a computer that have malfunctioned. Your spaceship must navigate through a narrow passage filled with deadly obstacles such as force fields, rocket launchers, and byte bats. The ship's shield has limited energy, and each time it's hit, the energy decreases. Energy pods can replenish the shield, but they are rare. You'll need to use your laser to deal with enemies and obstacles. Time is also a factor: you must reach the next detonator before it explodes. Points are awarded for disabling detonators, destroying enemies, and successfully navigating through the passage.

The gameplay of Laser Gates requires quick reflexes and strategic thinking. You'll need to manage your shield's energy carefully and make use of the energy pods when available. The laser is also a crucial tool in defeating enemies and obstacles. Timing is essential, as you must avoid being hit by enemy fire or getting caught in force fields. Your mission is to complete each level before time runs out, earning points for your efforts.
