Game Modes
Sing a Solo Mode
Prepare to sing a solo or a duet with the original singer. When singing a duet, choose your vocal part and the original singer will perform the other.
Enter a name and select "Take a photo" to pose for a photo (requires an EyeToy® camera). Then, select a difficulty level and choose your song. Higher difficulty requires closer adherence to the exact note for points. Choose between the normal or short version of the song.
During performance, lyrics, pitch, and accuracy indicators appear. Italicized lyrics mean you can sing, but won't receive points for that part. You can sing an octave higher or lower than the original recording. As long as the performance is in tune, you will receive points.
When the song ends, the final score and ranking are shown. If your score is good enough, you can enter your name in the score table.
Note
If a Memory Card is in slot 1, the new score will be saved automatically.
Party Mode
Compete against a friend or in teams of up to four players. Each performance gets a score, and after the final round, the overall score is calculated.
There are three types of games in Party mode: Pass the Mic, Battle, and Duet.
Pass the Mic Mode
Pass the Mic mode consists of seven rounds with various challenges for 2 to 8 players. Select existing player profiles or enter new participant names to create two teams. If an EyeToy camera is connected, you can take photos of new participants.
Once teams are ready, select a difficulty level and decide whether songs will be "normal" or "short" duration. Teams face each other simultaneously in all rounds, except in Duet mode. In Duet mode, two members of one team perform, then two players from the other team.
Note
The red team can use the blue microphone and vice versa, for example, in a Duet round. If a SingStar microphone of a different color is needed, on-screen instructions will clarify which microphone to use.
At the end of each round, the score obtained will appear, followed by the total competition score. Two points are awarded to the winner, one point to both teams for a tie, and zero points to the loser. Points are added up, and the winning team is revealed at the end.
Before each round, players are automatically selected. Rules will appear on screen; read them carefully and press the X button to start singing. Everyone will have a chance to sing, and each round presents a different challenge:
•
1. Battle: Two players sing the same song or part of a duet simultaneously. Each gets individual points, and the player with the highest score wins.
•
2. Medley: Players perform a medley simultaneously (chosen or random). The player with the most points wins.
•
3. First Place Chase: In this individual confrontation, the first to accumulate 5,000 points wins. The performance meter indicates who is fastest at getting points.
•
4. Duet: Two players from the same team sing together for a combined score. Then the other team's duet tries to beat their opponents' score.
•
5. Keep Going: Players must keep the horizontal performance meter above a vertical black marker. Difficulty increases throughout the song. If someone drops below the marked level, their game is over. If both players finish correctly, it's a tie.
•
6. Mini Medley: Players perform a randomly selected mini medley to achieve the maximum score.
•
7. Pass the Mic: Two teams battle, with each member singing a fragment before passing the microphone. Each participant contributes to the team's overall score; the team with the highest score wins.
Duets for Two Voices
Players can sing two-voice duets. Sing in harmony with the original artist or a friend for a joint score. Another option is a showdown where the player with the best tuning wins. In Battle and Duet modes, each player can sing a different voice with their own lyric line on screen.
Two-Player Pass the Mic Games
If there is only one player in one or both teams of a Pass the Mic game, the Duet and Pass the Mic options will not be available, as at least one teammate is required.
Battle Mode
Compete against a friend in a vocal duel to get the most points and win. At the end, scores are shown, followed by the best performances for that song at the chosen difficulty.
Duet Mode
Sing with another player for a joint score. Each vocal part can score up to 5,000 points. Both players' scores are added for a combined duet score of up to 1
