Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive action role-playing game set in the enchanting world of magic. Spanning the late 1800s, before the events of the original series, players embark on a journey as a new student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where they choose their house, attend classes, learn spells, uncover hidden secrets, and face formidable foes. The game's open-world structure allows for freedom to explore and interact with various locations within and around the school, including Hogsmeade village, Forbidden Forest, and more. Some iconic locations from the books are also visualized in this game, offering a unique experience for fans.
Combat is fast-paced and centered around casting and combining different spells, with players able to tailor their playstyle and upgrade their skills. A diverse range of spells, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, can be mastered to overcome challenges and defeat enemies. The combat system prioritizes accessibility, enabling swift spellcasting and dodging.
Beyond combat, the game offers various mini-games, crafting options, and customization features, allowing players to craft a unique character and equipment. Character creation enables personalized appearance choices, including gender selection. Additionally, the game boasts a dynamic day-night cycle and weather system, further enriching the magical world.
The Hogwarts Legacy Xbox Series X version was launched alongside its counterparts for PS5 and Windows, featuring exclusive content on the latter platform. A Haunted Hogsmeade quest offers an in-game investigation, culminating in access to a mysterious shop where players can sell items and gear. This quest has since been made available across all platforms via a free update.
Pre-orders of the PlayStation 5 version also include a Felix Felicis potion recipe, revealing hidden gear chests on the mini-map for one in-game day.
Hogwarts Legacy was released on February 10th, 2023, for Xbox Series X.
