Media.Vision Entertainment Inc. is a Japanese game development studio established in 1993. They are most famous for developing the Wild Arms franchise, including the original Wild Arms (1996) and Wild Arms 2 (1999). Additionally, they developed the 1995 run-and-gun game Rapid Reload and have contributed to the Digimon Story and Dragon Ball franchises.
The studio's debut title,
Rapid Reload (1995), established their technical capabilities on the PlayStation console with its fast-paced, side-scrolling action. This expertise in sprite-based design transitioned into the development of
Wild Arms (1996), a seminal role-playing game that blended traditional 2D exploration with fully 3D combat sequences. The title's immense popularity in Japan prompted a budget reissue under the
Wild Arms [PlayStation the Best] (1996) label, followed by international localization efforts that brought the game to Western audiences in 1997 and 1998.
Building on this foundational success, the developer produced
Wild Arms 2 (1999), which refined the series' signature mix of science-fiction and Western aesthetics. To generate anticipation for its North American debut, a standalone
Wild Arms 2 [Demo Disc] (2000) was distributed prior to the full retail launch of
Wild Arms 2 (2000) in English-speaking territories. The mechanical framework and storytelling techniques honed during these early projects later allowed the company to successfully adapt established anime and gaming properties, leading to their celebrated contributions within the broader
Digimon Story and
Dragon Ball franchises.
