Valkyrie no Densetsu is a sequel to Valkyrie no Bōken: Toki no Kagi Densetsu, which puts you in the shoes of a young Valkyrie of Norse mythology as she sets out to reclaim the fabled golden seed, which has been stolen by an evil god.
The gameplay is top-down action with platformer elements. You must navigate many levels that compose Valhalla and defeat all enemies in your path while sorting out chasms and other obstacles. The game discards the RPG elements of the previous game.
You can also find several NPCs in each stage, who offer gameplay hints, clues, and items to buy with gold stolen from fallen enemies. You can buy health power-ups, improved weapons, and even magic spells for added fire-power.

In *The Legend of Puck*, players step into the role of Puck to navigate a fantasy world where evil incarnations called Caam have corrupted the land with a powerful artifact known as the Golden Seed. The goal is to restore peace and abundance by confronting these villains and resolving the conflict that has left the people in hunger and despair.
Story
Introduction
Thank you very much for purchasing Namcot's PC Engine ROM card 'The Legend of Puck.' If you read this instruction manual before playing, you will be able to play more enjoyably.
Precautions for Use
•
When exchanging the card, be sure to turn off the power first.
•
As it is a precision device, avoid use or storage under extreme temperature conditions, strong shocks, etc.
•
Do not bend the card forcibly.
•
Do not touch the terminals or get them wet, as this can cause malfunction.
•
If the terminals get dirty, wipe them gently with a soft gauze or gauze soaked in ethyl alcohol (disinfecting alcohol).
Story
Once upon a time, the gods gave humans a mysterious seed. It is said that if you raise that seed in the spring of the spring that glows in the land of the dead, you can have any wish come true.
People called it the 'Golden Seed' and raised it carefully, praying for peace and abundance. However, those who tried to control the world using that seed appeared. They are the incarnation of evil, Caam.
Peace was soon disrupted. The land dried up, and crops could do nothing. In the midst of hunger and hatred, the hearts of people gradually become desolate...

How to Play
Game Contents
Defeat Camouz and restore peace to the land! Defeating Camouz, the incarnation of evil who disrupts peace, is Valkyrie's mission. Using a sword and magic, Valkyrie fights Camouz's subordinates while progressing through all 7 rounds.
As the adventure progresses, the secrets of the remaining "Golden Seeds" and the Northern Spring will become clear.
Fight enemies repeatedly and power up your sword with the coins you collect
Even Valkyrie's initial strength is no match for Camouz's power. However, by fighting enemies and gaining experience, your health will increase and you will grow stronger.
Also, if you collect the coins that appear when you defeat enemies, you can make purchases at Zoo's shop. They sell weapon items that power up your sword, as well as items that recover health.
Meet people and learn magic
During the adventure, Valkyrie will encounter various people. People suffering under Camouz's rule, Chi Ai Sandra, the magic user Papa, and more... When you meet and talk to such people, you can receive items or learn magic. Sometimes your heart will be put to the test, too.
What's in the treasure chests?
You can open the treasure chests placed along the path by getting close to them. They contain coins or items, but enemies may be hiding inside, so open them carefully.
How to Start the Game
On the title screen, use the direction keys to select START or PASSWORD, then press Switch 1 to confirm.
•
START: Starts the game from the beginning.
•
PASSWORD: Goes to the password input screen. The password is displayed when you clear a round or when you select 'Rest' during a Game Over.
Use the direction keys to move the cursor and Switch 1 to select characters. If you make a mistake, press Switch II while using the direction keys to reset the cursor.
If Game Over occurs?
Select one of the options on the screen below with the direction keys, and press Switch 1 to confirm.
•
Yes/Try again: Restarts from the beginning of that round. Status also reverts to its state at that time.
•
Rest: The same password as the one displayed at the start of the round is shown.
Screen Display
Normally, progress the game on the play screen. Check the status screen to check items etc. Switch between the two screens using the Run Switch.
Play Screen
•
HP: The red portion is your current health. It decreases when you take enemy attacks or fall from high places. If it all disappears, you are defeated.
•
MP: Wilquere's magical power. It decreases as you use magic.
Status Screen
•
EXP: Experience points. Increases as you defeat enemies.
•
GOLD: The amount of money you have.
•
MAGIC: Displayed magic learned.
•
Remaining Count: If the remaining count is available, you can revive from where you are if you are defeated. It starts at 0, but increases as experience points accumulate. If you are defeated with a remaining count of 0, it's Game Over.
•
Item in Use: Special items obtained during the game are displayed.
•
Item Stock: Used in order from left to right.
•
Other Items: Special items obtained during the game are displayed.

Wide Beam
A powerful weapon that fires a shot covering a wide area, with a limit of 160 rounds.
3-Way Shot
A cost-effective weapon that shoots in three directions forward, available for 160 rounds.
4-Way Shot
Attacks the front, back, left, and right simultaneously, with a limit of 160 rounds.
Piercing Bullet
A powerful bullet that pierces through enemies but has a small hit range, lasting 128 rounds.
Homing Missile
A convenient weapon that flies after enemies, available for 160 rounds.
Grenade
The most powerful weapon that sweeps up enemies with its explosion, limited to 62 rounds.
Heart
An item that recovers some HP.
Magic Element
A mysterious potion that restores MP.
Nice Dress
An item used to change your mood.
Gold
Currency consisting of large coins and dollar bags with different values.
Purple Medicine
Medicine that prevents damage from magma.
Red Soil and ?
Materials used for making purple medicine.
Wax Key
A key whose specific purpose is unknown.
Key of Light
A legendary key that emits dazzling light and prevents damage five times.
Secret Key
An item required to proceed first to a certain location.

Tips & Maps
Magic
Magic is learned by being taught by the magic-users Obaya and Sandra. The effects and MP cost vary depending on the type of magic.
Clone Technique
Splits into two and fires powerful projectiles.
Cyclone Technique
Generates a high-heat vortex, dealing damage to all enemies on screen.
BIG Technique
Allows the player to grow giant and create earthquakes by jumping, but reverts to normal size after a set amount of time or if they fall from a height.
Whirlwind Technique
Cloaks the player in a tornado to defeat enemies, granting immunity to attacks for a set duration.
Chameleon Technique
Transforms enemies on screen into weak regular enemies, though it does not work on bosses.
Quest Log
A record of quests that includes completing the World Map and exploring locations such as Sandland, Land of Flames, Magma Caverns, Ruins of the Golden Castle, Ice Labyrinth, and Faraway Village.
