Sir Lancelot is an action game that begins with a damsel in distress being held captive by a fire breathing dragon in a castle. As Sir Lancelot , you must ride your winged horse Pegasus to the rescue. Each level consists of two screens: the outside of the castle, where you must destroy flying creatures to progress, and the inside of the castle, where you face a large pit of lava and a flying dragon.
The gameplay is focused on shooting down flying creatures with your lance while avoiding their fireballs. If hit by a fireball, you'll be temporarily stunned and unable to fly. Falling into the lava will also result in losing a life. Your goal is to defeat the dragon by hitting its stomach with your lance. Defeating it will increase the game's difficulty level. The game continues until all lives are lost.
