July , a mystery adventure game that follows two young men, Makoto Tanimura (19-year old) and Joshua (29-year old), on a quest to uncover the truth behind a bombing that took place several years ago. The story of the two play separately in their own chapters and can be progressed in any order, one chapter at a time. While their stories start separately, their paths cross when they uncover the truth behind the bombing and how it all ties to a secret corporation known as NAX.

The gameplay is more about navigating through dialogues and choices, with an emphasis on visiting different locations that are triggered by events. The map plays a big role in interface and allows player to visit many locations as certain times and conditions are met. The game features anime style character art with pre-rendered backgrounds and occasional pre-rendered animated cut-scenes. Voice-acting is not included for either the player characters or non-playable characters.
