The Video Jogger , released in 1983, is an exercise game designed to help players move around a virtual track. The goal is to create a happy face by stepping on blue and orange dots in an alternating pattern. However, pace symbols that are red can harm the player if they touch them when they're green, but not when they're circling the tracks.
Gameplay involves navigating through two tracks with different speeds: the upper track is slower and the lower one is faster. The game features five minute intervals where the pace increases and 2 pace symbols appear on the tracks after a certain point. Players can switch between the two tracks by stepping on specific colored dots.
The games also come with variations based on the mile rate, such as Game 1, where the upper track takes 13.5 minutes to complete, while Game 4 requires less time for both tracks.
Another game is Video Reflex , where players must step on dots matching the color of a bug that moves around the screen. Missing a step or stepping on the wrong dot results in losing one of eight lives. Later levels introduce additional challenges, such as bugs and butterflies, which require precise timing to avoid loss. The game has several variations based on level selection using the red dot:
One to Three: Random bugs with butterfly
Players earn one point for each bug squashed, with the level increasing after 20 points are reached.
