Football , released in 1977 , is an early attempt at simulating American football. The game is played from a top-down perspective, featuring two unnamed teams: one blue and one yellow. When starting out, the offense chooses one of five plays to use. After that, the playing field is displayed, and after the ball has been snapped, the player controls the quarterback with the joystick. By pressing the trigger, a throw is made, and the flight of the ball depends on the angle of the quarterback's arm, controlled by the knob on the controller.
The gameplay involves controlling the quarterback to pass the ball, while the defense uses the joystick to control the cornerbacks' patterns. The game also features a four-player mode, where players 1 and 2 control the quarterbacks, while players 3 and 4 control the tight end in offense, and players 1 and 2 control the top cornerback, and players 3 and 4 control the bottom cornerback in defense.
