The gameplay involves selecting plays from a limited set of options, with the offense having six different running and passing plays available. The defense can counter these plays using their own selection of defensive tactics, which are determined by the position of the directional stick on the controller.

Players must work together to execute their plays, with the quarterback controlling the direction of passes and the offensive players following the ball automatically. The game also features two speed levels: Collegiate and Pro, which affect gameplay difficulty.
