Jewel Match is a puzzle game released on the Nintendo DS in 2011. The story revolves around the player being presented with a grid of jewels and trying to swap pairs of tiles to form rows of three or more identical gems. As the player progresses, they will encounter levels with gaps and shaped areas that can affect how the pieces fall. The gameplay involves swapping tiles to create matches, which earn points and clear room for new gems to fall into place. The twist is that not all pieces fall vertically - some can also fall diagonally. To make things more challenging, certain squares have gold or silver backings that require specific match combinations to clear.
The game has its own victory criteria, with players needing to create matches over special squares within a set time limit. These squares are tied to jewels with golden or silver chains, which can be freed by matching them multiple times. As the player progresses, they'll unlock new hammers that remove specific gems or effects on the square, and a magical storm that allows them to mix up the jewels using the DS microphone.
Players can also compete in hot seat mode against another person, trying to clear levels the fastest.
