CONTROL PAD LEFT: Move Scratchy left
•
CONTROL PAD RIGHT: Move Scratchy right
Putt
When Scratchy is next to the ball, press CONTROL PAD UP to line up a putt.
Once in the putting stance, press and release the B BUTTON to putt. The longer you hold the B BUTTON, the more powerful the swing. A power-meter at the bottom of the screen shows the swing strength.
To exit the putting stance before putting, press CONTROL PAD LEFT, RIGHT, or DOWN, or press the A BUTTON to jump out.
When the ball is rolling towards Scratchy, press CONTROL PAD DOWN to block it with his body. This can prevent the ball from falling into pits, down hills, or into the wrong tunnel.
Status Bar
Attack
Scratchy attacks by pressing the B BUTTON (unless he's in the putting stance). His default weapon is his putter.
Scratchy can find other weapons that Itchy has lost on the golf course. Search everywhere, including secret areas within holes, to find these and other pick-ups. Run into pick-ups to collect them.
Weapons
•
Springfield Slugger Baseball Bat
Scratchy starts each level with only his putter. To choose a different weapon, press the SELECT BUTTON until the desired weapon's icon appears in the status bar.
Use pick-up items wisely, as they have limited uses. The number of uses remaining is displayed in the status bar.
Note
The boomerang has unlimited uses, provided you catch it each time it returns.
Living on the Links
Scratchy begins each cartoon with 9 lives. Each time Scratchy gets hit, he loses a life. As long as he has lives remaining, he will recover and continue.
Scratchy Dolls
Scratchy Dolls give Scratchy an extra life. Run into them to pick them up.
A meter at the bottom left of your screen displays how many lives Scratchy has remaining. When Scratchy runs out of lives, the cartoon is over.
You can use continues to extend the cartoon. Once your continues are used up, you must start the cartoon from the beginning.
Scoreboard
The fewer shots Scratchy takes to sink his ball, the better his score. Each putt adds one stroke to Scratchy's shot total.
Erasers lower Scratchy's score by one stroke, making them very valuable.
If Scratchy's ball gets lost or stuck, he receives a one-stroke penalty and must take the shot again. Avoid putting into open pits.
Scratchy is not penalized for hitting the ball into tunnels, but they are risky as the ball could end up anywhere.
Scratchy is not penalized for hitting into water, but the resistance makes the ball move slower and harder to drive.
Ball Locator
An electric ball locator is included on the status bar. Shaded arrows indicate the direction of the ball relative to Scratchy.
Scoring Screen
Scratchy's score is tallied on the scoring screen after each hole. It shows shot totals for each hole and a running course total.
A plus or minus next to the total indicates whether Scratchy is over or under par. If Scratchy shoots below par on any hole, he receives a Bonus Life.
The current hole number and par are noted on each hole's introduction screen and can be viewed during gameplay by pressing the START BUTTON.
