Dr. Evil, the villain that dogs Austin Powers, now has is own video game. Following the same footsteps as Austin Powers: Oh Behave!, the lair contains a selection of evil inspried video games based on Pac-Man, Othello and Rock/Paper/Scissors, and the main game which has you racing along in Dr. Evil's bike collecting money and dodging obstacles. You can also find screensavers, video clips, details of the first two Austin Powers movies and PC like programs including a document maker, calculator and the ability to print off and send messages via the infra-red port of the GBC.

Story
Introduction
Welcome to My Game Boy Color Game. When I was a boy there were no games like this. My fun would consist of luge lessons and meat helmets. If I were a poor sport, I'd be placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds.
My game is the ultimate training tool for future heads of evil organizations that want to take over the world. It also doubles as the ultimate leisure tool for those who already head these evil organizations.
Get to training, as you don't want to end up like my own son, Scott, who was never quite evil enough. He was only Semi-Evil... Quasi-Evil. If you want to be the heir to my evil organization, you'll have to work hard and prove yourself.
How to Play
Getting Started
Austin Powers: Welcome to my Underground Lair transforms your Game Boy Color into a functional PC, running Dr. Evil 2000 and EVIL-DOS. To begin, you'll answer personal questions to initialize your Dr. Evil Unit.
Use the Nintendo Control Pad to move the cursor and make selections. When filling in text like your name, use up and down on the Control Pad to scroll through letters and right to pick the next letter. Press the B Button when finished.
For multiple-choice questions, use the B Button to choose an option. Continue using the B Button to make choices and advance to the next screen.
Your Game Boy Color saves all your details and tracks your progress, charting your growing evil abilities. To erase your record, go to Gadgets and select FORMAT.
Game Functionality
Once your personal details are entered, your Game Boy Color becomes a Personal Computer. This desktop is a research tool for separating the pure evil from the quasi-evil. The more you play, the better your score, as the game aims to make you the head of an evil organization.
Pausing and Quitting
•
Press START to pause or quit any function or game.
•
If you choose to minimize a function (select Mini-Me), you can re-open it using the Mini-Me Button on your Random Task Bar.
Trading/Linking
You can trade gifts (wallpapers, screen savers, sounds) and engage in link play with a friend using an 'Austin Powers - Oh, Behave!' Game Pak. You can also link up and exchange emails with any Austin Powers game. All Austin Powers games are compatible.
The Desktop
After installation and personalization, you will arrive at the Desktop. You will always start here unless you shut down improperly. Refer to the EVIL SYMBOL section for correct shutdown procedures.
The Desktop displays icons and folders.
Atomic Evil Symbol
This symbol, located above the larger Evil Symbol, allows you to move the column of folders and scroll to access off-screen folders.
•
Move the cursor onto the Atomic Evil Symbol.
•
Press and hold down the B Button.
•
Press left or right on the Control Pad to relocate icons.
•
Press up or down on the Control Pad to access off-screen folders.
•
This symbol works the same way in Games, Evil Things, Programs, and Gadgets.
Random Task Bar
The Random Task Bar is at the bottom of the screen. It contains the EVIL Button, the LAIR Button, and the MINI-ME Button (when something is minimized). Dr. Evil's headshot is on the right.
Evil Button
•
Move the cursor onto the EVIL Button and press the B Button.
•
A screen with three options will appear.
Top Box
This area reveals the diabolical machinery in Austin Powers: Welcome to my Underground Lair.
•
Move the cursor to the right of the rectangular box at the top of the screen.
•
Press the B Button to make red arrowheads appear.
•
Press up or down on the Control Pad to scroll through features.
•
Press the B Button to make the red arrowheads disappear after making your choice.
•
Move the cursor to the white circle to the left of the box and press the B Button to fill it in.
•
Move down and hit the OK Button.
Evil-Dos
Evil-Dos takes you out of 'DR. EVIL 2000' and into EVIL-DOS.
•
You might be a programmer, or you might have pressed the button by mistake.
•
If you pressed it by mistake, type EXIT and hit the B Button.
•
Press up or down to scroll through letters and symbols, and left and right to move the cursor.
•
Pressing START allows you to pause, minimize, or quit.
•
You can also enter cheat codes here.
Shut Down
This is where you go to shut down your Game Boy Color after playing.
Skip DOS at Boot
Change the X mark to a check mark to disable the black and white DOS screens that appear when you turn on the game.
Lair
Click here to change the background and make your lair intimidating.
Mini-Me
This button lets you see and relaunch all open but minimized programs and features. You can pause a game, Mini-Me it, and return later. This button only appears if you have something minimized.
Folders
•
Double-click the B Button on any FOLDER to access its programs and functions.
•
To return to the Desktop from within a FOLDER, click on the miniature EVIL SYMBOL in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Evil Things
This folder contains options to customize the game's sounds and appearance.
•
Sounds: Double-click the Megaphone to change in-game SFX and listen to Evil Sounds.
•
Cursors: Double-click the Big Arrowhead to change your in-game cursor.
•
Color Scheme: Double-click the Desktop icon with the small red arrowhead pointing down to change the color scheme on your Random Task Bar.
•
Screen Saver: Double-click the Monitor icon to choose a new screen saver. Pressing the A Button on the Desktop or in Main Folders activates the screen saver, or it will auto-activate after 30 seconds.
Programs
This folder contains advanced evil technology.
•
Evil Launch Pad - Version 1.10: Double-click the Typewriter Icon to create, delete, save, load, send, and receive messages to and from friends or
Tips & Maps
Rock, Paper, Scissors
Engage in hand-to-hand combat against opponents, making careful and quick moves as difficulty increases. In link play, learn your opponent's patterns to gain victory.
Mojo Maze
Navigate a dizzying maze, grabbing the Heart Extra Life Pickup and Spinning Coin for points. Use the Lightning Bolt Pickup for speed and the Glowing Rod to turn the tables on monsters.
Domination
Prioritize snagging the corners of the board and think two moves ahead to dominate the game.
He's 'Kin' Evil
Control a motor-scooter with Mini-Me, balancing, finding fuel, and feeding your cat. Use the Control Pad and B Button to reverse direction, collect Coins for points, Fuel Cans to keep moving, and Black Chairs as save points.
