Badlands

Badlands, released on January 1, 1979, is an action & adventure game for the Commodore 64. In this futuristic post-apocalyptic setting, you compete in high-speed car races against rival opponents. The story follows three souped-up cars racing over four laps on eight different tracks, which are viewed from above.

Gameplay involves using guns to slow down opposing cars and collecting spanners to upgrade your vehicle with improved engines, weaponry, and other enhancements. As you progress through the races, hazards such as ramps, collapsing buildings, and randomly opening barriers become increasingly challenging. Two-player mode allows for head-to-head competition, but only the winner continues without using up credits.
