The LocoRoco thought everyone was safe and happy, but the nasty Moja Troop returns with a song that can suck out the life of all living things! The player must control the planet once more to protect the LocoRoco and the entire planet itself.

LocoRoco 2 is a sequel to the PSP game. As with the original, the player controls the planet using the L and R Buttons on the PSP. Pressing both buttons simultaneously makes the planet shake and make the LocoRoco jump. Tapping the Circle button scares the LocoRoco, splitting them into smaller ones that can squeeze through gaps.

As players explore the LocoRoco's world, they'll encounter poisoned areas caused by the Moja's awful singing. Hitting these black blobby areas with the LocoRoco breaks off the poison and restores the area to normal. Players can also destroy Mojas in this way. Collecting musical notes gives the player bonus help in exploring the levels.

Occasionally, players will encounter brief mini-games where they must tap the beat to the LocoRoco's songs to earn more musical notes. A new feature is Loco Rider, a mini-game that can be played wirelessly with up to four players in ad-hoc mode.
