Underwurlde is Sabreman’s second game, where he finds himself trapped in an underground cavern network with nearly 600 side-viewed screens to explore. The goal is to escape through three different paths, each protected by a guardian that can be defeated using one of the three major weapons: a dagger, a torch, or a knife.
As you navigate through the levels, you'll encounter randomly-moving enemies that can't kill you but will knock you off course and cause you to fall. You'll also need to avoid eagles that can grab and drop you in mid-air, while falling from too great a height will cost you a life. However, you can collect jewels for temporary invincibility.
The game is divided into two main areas: the castle screens at the top and the caverns below. Moving through the castles requires blind jumps and often involves bouncing off objects like flower pots to stay on course. In the caverns, you'll use a rope to hook onto the ceiling and move up and down – if you've found it – while your depth in the levels is displayed on screen at all times.
