Puchi Carat , released in 1997 for the PlayStation, is a puzzle game where thieves stole twelve gems that made people's dreams come true and sold them to evil sorcerers. The gems later came into possession of twelve mysterious characters who try to get their hands on the remaining jewels to fulfill their own dreams.
The gameplay is inspired by Breakout , with the player controlling a ball launched from a cursor that can only move horizontally on the bottom of the screen. The objective is to clear rows of gems before they reach a line above the cursor, while new rows appear if the player fails to catch the ball.
The single-player mode features four variations: trial mode where the player must destroy a certain amount of rows to advance, story mode against the computer in split-screen format, time attack for speed, and rapid mode for the highest number of destroyed rows. The game also allows for multiplayer mode with human opponents, where difficulty and handicaps can be selected.
